Dr. Marshall S. Michaelian
Dr. Marshall S. Michaelian was born and raised in Los Angeles. He received his Masters of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1968 from the University of Southern California and moved to the Bay Area where he worked for Chevron Research in Point Richmond and then for Chevron's Comptrollers Department. In 1973, he entered the University of California Dental School in San Francisco where he received his D.D.S. degree. He received his specialty training and Master's Degree of Science in Endodontics at the Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry in 1979. He also received additional training in Conscious Sedation from Dr. Ben Kripke, Chairman of the Anesthesiology Department at Boston University School of Medicine in 1979 and maintains a Conscious Sedation License in the state of California. Since 2004 Dr. Michaelian attended over 300 hours in Implant Dentistry that included live surgical training workshops using hands–on cadaver specimens. In 2006 Dr. Michaelian received his Fellow award from the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Dr. Michaelian is a member of the San Mateo County Dental Society, the California Dental Society, the American Dental Society, and the American Association of Endodontists.
Dr. Michaelian has taught numerous continuing education courses in Endodontics to local general dentists over the past 30 years as well as presenting scientific papers and lecturing to state and national dental societies. For many years he taught endodontics to post graduate dentists at Mount Zion Hospital Dental Clinic.
Over the years Dr. Michaelian has worked with the Samaritan House of San Mateo providing free endodontic care to numerous San Mateo residents in need. He also works with Samaritan House of Redwood City and Menlo Park Presbyterian Church (MPPC) providing dental care during MPPC’s annual Compassion Weekend.
As part of the network of specialists for the Coalition of Concerned Medical Professionals (CCMP), Dr. Michaelian has provided numerous free endodontic procedure to low–income families in the Bay Area. CCMP is an all–volunteer independent association of health care professional that deliver comprehensive health care for the working poor. Internationally he joined with other medical/dental professionals in 2006 to serve at Project Mercy in Yetebon, Ethiopia, and plans to return again in late 2010.
He and his wife reside on the Peninsula where they raised their three sons. One of Dr. Michaelian's passions is flying and in 2004, after 12 years, he completed building a Lancair IV-PT. He is also a member of and flies for Angel Flight a non profit organization whose mission is to arrange free air transportation in response to health care and other compelling human needs. His other interests include bicycling, snow and water sports, scuba diving and travel.
